Welcome friend!

I have created this website with the hope that it will become a space of conversation and intimacy. Here we share poetry, photographs, reflections, musings and anything else generally related to the subjects of intimacy and loneliness, isolation and connection, emptiness and inter-being, understanding and love, and all the little things—the universes of existence—in between.

This project emerges from my experience living in New York City for the past several years as a college student; a place that in my mind fosters the most profound sense of isolation and simultaneously mirrors the depth of our interconnection. How can we crowd into subway cars and fail to acknowledge each other? We are as close as lovers; we could never be farther apart. I wonder how to connect with those to whom I feel estranged. I wonder how to cultivate deeper intimacy toward those with whom I am already close. I want to talk to you about these questions. As you will see, that doesn’t mean our dialogue here is all about one thing—its about everything! But always with the aim of being open, sharing ourselves, and exploring in a communal space.

How You Can Participate

This blog is about community. The best way to get a sense of it is to start reading.  Think of it as a barbeque, a playground, a party, a gathering of unacquainted friends. We welcome your thoughts, your comments, and your feelings. If you feel compelled to join us, just pick a post and reply in any way you feel comfortable. Even if it is a simple "I like this," give it a shot. You might find yourself getting invested in our conversation. If you want to contribute your thoughts but find our posts daunting or too involved, just pick a quiet corner of the blog and offer anything. Your comments become the content of the website; we will flock to your corner and joyfully add water to your new plot of land.

You are always welcome to post anonymously. But if you find that you want to participate regularly, I encourage you to become a registered user. As a user you can create a profile page, track posts and replies to your comments, submit photos, and maintain a more permanent identity on the site.

This is a work in progress. It is an exploration of process and possibility. I welcome your feedback, suggestions and opinions. Thanks for stopping by and welcome to the conversation.
