site updates

On a New Host

At some point in February,we switched the site to a different hosting provider. You may have noticed that the site has been much more reliable as a result.

That's all for now!

ISSUES WITH WEB HOST

Due to some serious problems with our hosting provider, you may be experiencing very slow site performance and periods of inaccessibility.  This website has grown faster than anticipated.  We will be switching to a more robust hosting solution as soon as possible.  I apologize for any inconvenience over the next week as these issues are resolved.   Thanks for your support.

New Features

Hi Friends. Along with our updated look, there are a few new features to the Intimacy of Strangers you should know about:

  • Comment Tracking by User:  In your account page, you will find a "My Comments" tab that will allow you to keep track of all your submissions to the site.  Additionally, you can view this feature for other users in their profile page.
  • Viewing Photos: On the page view of a photo, you can now click the image in order to see it full size.
  • WYSIWYG EDITOR: ...or "what you see is what you get."  You should notice that text fields now allow you to format text and create links without the use of html tags.

If you experience issues in Internet Explorer, we suggest you try a more web standards compliant browser such as firefox.   You may have to initially shift+refresh some pages to clear your browser cache in order to see everything correctly.  Please feel free to leave your comments or suggestions regarding usability issues.  Thanks.

Site Changes

Hello Friends. Over the next several weeks, with the help of my drupal savvy roommate, I will be introducing new features to the blog. You can now sign up for a user account. Doing so will allow you to select a permanent alias. As a registered user, you will be able to create a profile page, track posts, and receive notifications when your submissions receive replies. You will also have the opportunity to upload images. Most of these features are not yet operational. You are always welcome to continue posting anonymously, but if you would like to claim some kind of identity here, I encourage you to sign up. Right now, there won't be too much difference in your experience. As we introduce these new features over the next couple of weeks, I hope that the conversation will become easier to access, and perhaps we can "get to know each other" a little bit. Thank you for your gifts. We are just getting started.
